Designer inspiring
In the second semester, we worked on the project ‘Designer Inspiring’, where we had to make a collection of tops. Together with 5 other people, Bo Van Loock, Alexandra Rens, Elise Debbaut, Luna Schoymans, Eline Bellens, I chose for the theme ‘Fast Forward’.
For us, 'Designers Inspiring' is about bringing nature back into our closets
bring in a sustainable way for people and the environment. Because of that we choose to work with 'Fast Forward'.
We choose to work with as many sustainable materials as possible and produce our collection honestly. For the name of our brand, we chose for 'Angry Nature'.
Through six tops, we have implemented nature into our closet and our daily lives.
We dream of a livable future for everyone, we contribute with love and passion our contribution to a creative and ideal world.
Inspiration
We have focused within nature on three aspects that can be seen as disasters: storm, volcano and water.
When these are disturbed, a lot of damage can occur.
At the same time, these natural phenomena have a lot of beauty in them. These colours and shapes prompted us to create our designs. We went as sustainable as possible with our choice of materials.
We also drew inspiration from the non-profit organisation The one
per cent for the planet: 1% of our profits to three non-profit
organisations.

Brand identity
Nature, being the greatest artist, serves as a model for our
organic style. As in nature, there is a layering in our work;
we have adopted the downy of clouds, the rippling of water and the
flowing of lava into our collection.
Our brand plays with the ethereal and the naive of what a better
world could look like. At the same time, hard elements also appear in
our designs. This hardness shows where there is still a need for
improvement.
With our brand, we hope to bring about a change in mentality within an industry where fashion giants place their profits time and again
above the welfare of their workers and the environment.
Moodboard
Our theme for this collection is threefold and yet forms a whole.
We have chosen three natural phenomena that are imposing, powerful,
explosive and destructive.
Storms seem romantic when you're inside, but outside the wind rages and
thunders. Downy dark grey clouds become visible through
flashing lightning bolts and transform to statically charged
purple.
Volcano is like a sleeping tiger; everything seems fine until it suddenly
wakes up without warning. Clouds of smoke and embers fill the sky,
hot magma pours down its flanks, leaving a trail of destruction
behind it.
Water is serene at rest but once in the swirl it takes everything with
with it. The deafening sound of a waterfall, the sparkle of
a frozen glacier and waves that take everything back into the sea.

Storm

Johanna
design Luna Schoymans

The name from this design comes from the storm Johanna, that still has to come in the future.
She also made all these beautiful drawings of our designs.
Water

Buerbreen
design Gemma Poelman

This is my own design, inspired on a glacier.
My work
The name
The name Buerbreen comes from a glacier in Vestland, Norway. The glacier starts to melt as it falls down and turns into a waterfall.
That's what my top represents, the ruffles are the waves of the waterfall and the underneath is the mountain of the glacier.

Results and conclusion

I was completely new in this world, so I still had and have a lot to learn. But I think I did a good job and am proud on the results of my design.
The thing that need to pay more attention to are the details. I can go too fast sometimes and miss important steps, wich makes me have to start over.
I can see how I grew over the year, and how I do all the techniques we learned much better and easier.
I am really happy with how we brought this project to a successful conclusion.
